There are two certifications required for working as a lifeguard anywhere in the United States:
1) the Lifeguard Training certification with First Aid and
2) The CPR/AED for Lifeguards certification.
These certifications may be American Red Cross or an equivalent, such as YMCA, Starguard, or an Ellis certification.
Carolina Pool Management - Greensboro offers both Lifeguard Training certification and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer for Lifeguards. These are American Red Cross classes and the certifications you receive for passing the class are American Red Cross certifications.

The full lifeguard certification class is offered over the course of two weekends. This class is for new lifeguards or lifeguards who would like to recertify and want to retake the entire class. You must attend all four days for completion.
City of Greensboro Spring Break Aquatics School
Carolina Pool Management has partnered with the City of Greensboro to offer full lifeguard classes (completed in four days) and recertification lifeguard classes (completed in 2 days) at special discount pricing. These classes will only be offered at this special pricing during the week of April 6-14, 2012. The full lifeguard class is for new lifeguards or lifeguards who would like to recertify and want to retake the entire class. The recertification class is for lifeguards who have been previously certified only.
Lifeguard Instructor Certification
The lifeguard instructor certification is for lifeguards who currently possess an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid certificate or have successfully completed a Red Cross Lifeguarding (full or review course) or another acceptable lifeguarding course within the last four years. You must be at least 17 years of age on or before the last day of class. You will complete the course with the intent to teach lifeguarding classes through the American Red Cross.
CPR/AED for Lifeguards Recertification
This course if for lifeguards who have been previously certified in CPR/AED for Lifeguards and need to renew their certification for 2012.
